Para biathlon: no globes for the French
On Tuesday, the 2024/2025 Para Biathlon World Cup came to a close in Torsby (Sweden). The IBU took the opportunity to award the crystal globes in each of the categories.
In the standing category, Canada’s Mark Arendz (1,070), with seven wins from eleven races, won comfortably ahead of Germany’s Marco Maier (917) and Ukraine’s Serhii Romaniuk (819). Fifth place for Benjamin Daviet (775) and ninth for Karl Tabouret (600), first U23.

On the women’s side, Ukrainian Oleksandra Kononova (1,002) was crowned champion, ahead of Canadian Natalie Wilkie (935) and her compatriot Iryna Bui (906).

In the visually impaired category, the Ukrainians took the top six places overall : the big one went to Iaroslav Reshetynskyi (1,004) ahead of Anatolii Kovalevskyi (936), Oleksandr Kazik (935), Dmytro Suiarko (865), Maksym Murashkovskyi (833) and Ihor Kravchuk (777). Anthony Chalençon (776), with five podiums to his name, is seventh after missing one of the winter stages.

In the women’s category, it was Germany’s Leonie Maria Walter (1,075), just ahead of her compatriot Johanna Recktenwald (1,020), who took the crystal globe. Ukrainian Oksana Shyshkova (880) rounded off the podium.

In the seated category, Kazakhstan’s Yerbol Khamitov (1,005) won the men’s overall classification ahead of Ukraine’s Oleksandr Aleksyk (816) and Great Britain’s Scott Meenagh (806).

The women’s globe went to Germany’s Anja Wicker (940), who finished on the podium in all eleven of the winter’s events. American Kendall Gretsch (820) paid for her deadlocks to finish second despite eight victories. China’s Wang Shiyu (705) was third.

Finally, the Nations Cup was won by Ukraine (3,205) ahead of Germany (3,170) and Canada (2,730). Seventh place for the French team, with a total of 2,151.
