Para biathlon: a first medal in Pokljuka for Anthony Chalençon and Florian Michelon
At midday on Thursday, just minutes after Karl Tabouret had finished fourth in the standing event, Anthony Chalençon (guided by Florian Michelon) also set off to tackle the sprint at the Para Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka (Slovenia).

After missing out on last week’s World Cup in Val di Fiemme (Italy) to replenish their energy, the French duo seem to have made the right choice.

Quick on his skis and precise on his shot with an excellent 10/10, the Morzinois, perfectly guided by none other than Océane Michelon’s cousin, was only beaten by Ukrainian Oleksandr Kazik (guided by Serhii Kucheriavyi), the big favourite.

Despite a 9/10, he won by 25 sec 3 and retained his crown as world sprint champion. The Tricolores were therefore silver, while China’s Yu Shuang (guided by Shang Jincai) was bronze at 28 sec 1.

In the women’s race, Germany’s Leonie Maria Walter (guided by Christian Krasman) took the gold medal with a 10/10 and a margin of more than a minute over her compatriot Johanna Recktenwald (guided by Emily Rose Weiss), in silver. China’s Wang Yue (guided by Liu Hang) was third.
