Para biathlon: Anthony Chalençon triumphs in Sweden
This Saturday, the final stage of the 2024/2025 Para Biathlon World Cup kicks off in Torsby (Sweden) with a sprint. In the visually impaired category, Anthony Chalençon and his guide Florian Michelon, the reigning world vice-champions in the format, claimed a magnificent victory.

With 10/10 shooting and excellent movement speed, Les Bleus won outright against Ukraine’s Iaroslav Reshetynskyi (guided by Dmytro Drahun) and Dmytro Suiarko (guided by Oleksandr Nikonovych).

The women’s victory went to Germany’sLeonie Maria Walter (guided by Christian Krasman) ahead of her compatriots Johanna Recktenwald (guided by Emily Rose Weiss), who was overtaken on the final lap, and Linn Kazmaier (guided by Florian Baumann).
Karl Tabouret and Benjamin Daviet not on the standing podium
In the standing category, France’s Karl Tabouret (9/10), sixth three days after becoming world champion in the para-cross-country skiing classic sprint, and Benjamin Daviet (9/10), seventh, failed to grab the podium.
Ukraine’s Serhii Romaniuk (10/10) won, knocking out Canadian Mark Arendz (9/10) by 20 seconds. Dmytro Sereda (10/10) was third.

In the women’s race, less than a tenth of a second separated Canadian Natalie Wilkie (10/10), the winner, from Ukrainian Oleksandra Kononova (9/10), second, at the finish line. Liudmyla Liashenko (9/10) was third. Beaufort native Chloé Pinto (6/10) was eighth.
Yerbol Khamitov and Kendall Gretsch win in the seated category
In the seated category, Kazakh Yerbol Khamitov (9/10) won the men’s race 17 sec 1 ahead of Ukrainian Pavlo Bal (10/10) and 22 sec 9 ahead of Oleksandr Aleksyk (9/10), another Ukrainian. The new world champion in the speciality, American Aaron Pike (8/10), was fourth.

In the women’s category, American Kendall Gretsch (10/10) won easily and comfortably ahead of South Korea’s Yunji Kim (10/10) and Germany’s Anja Wicker (8/10).
