Para biathlon: Benjamin Daviet very close to the podium in Val di Fiemme
This Wednesday, the Para Biathlon World Cup in Val di Fiemme (Italy) opened on the site of Lake Tesero , which will become a Paralympic venue in March 2026. It was a sprint pursuit that opened the hostilities.

Fourth in the qualifying race at the end of the morning, Bornandin Benjamin Daviet (10/10) took the same position in the grand final. Finishing 1 min 2 sec 6 behind Canadian winner Mark Arendz (10/10), he was edged out by Ukrainian Grygorii Vovchynskyi (10/10) for third place by 12 sec 2. German Marco Maier (9/10) was second.

Karl Tabouret (7/10), who had finished sixth in the qualifying round, finished tenth. In the women’s race, Chloé Pinto from Beaufort was ill and did not take part in the qualifying round. With her place at the World Championships in Pokljuka (Slovenia) up for grabs this week, she is trying to recover for Thursday’s sprint.

It was Canada’s Britanny Hudak (10/10) who won the women’s standing final, 12 sec 0 ahead of Ukraine’s Iryna Bui (9/10) and 26 sec 0 ahead of China’s Zhao Zhiqing (5/10).
North America at the top of the sitter rankings
Earlier in the afternoon, American Kendall Gretsch won the women’s final. With a 10/10, she beat Germany’s Anja Wicker (9/10) by 47 sec 3 and South Korea’s Kim Yunji (9/10) by 1 min 8 sec 2.

The men’s victory went to Canada’s Derek Zaplotinsky (10/10) 7 seconds 7 seconds ahead of Kazakhstan’s Yerbol Khamitov (10/10) and 28 seconds 8 seconds ahead of China’s Liu Zixu (10/10).
Ukraine and Austria ahead of the visually impaired
In the visually impaired category, in a competition reduced to qualification only, Ukrainian Iaroslav Reshetynskyi (guided by Dmytro Drahun), who scored 10/10, won ahead of his compatriot Anatolii Kovalevskyi (guided by Oleksandr Mukshyn) and Germany’s Nico Messinger (guided by Robin Wunderle).

Austria’s Carina Edlinger (coached by Michael Seyss-Inquart) won the women’s event at 9/10, beating Germany’s Leonie Maria Walter (coached by Christian Krasman) and China’s Wang Yue (coached by Liu Hang).
