Para biathlon: Les Bleus off the podium in the Vuokatti sprint pursuit
This Sunday, the Para Biathlon World Cup in Vuokatti (Finland) came to a close with sprint pursuits. In the visually impaired category, Anthony Chalençon (guided by Florian Michelon) was aiming for the podium, but had to settle for ninth place at 8/10. Ukraine’s Iaroslav Reshetynskyi (guided by Dmytro Drahun) won ahead of his compatriot Maksym Murashkovskyi (guided by Vitaliy Trush) and China’s Yu Shuang (guided by Wang Guanyu).
The women’s final went to Germany’s Leonie Maria Walter (guided by Christian Krasman) at 10/10. China’s Wang Yue (coached by Liu Hang) and her compatriot Johanna Recktenwald (coached by Louisa Maria Haag) also finished on the podium.
Benjamin Daviet sixth
Bornandin Benjamin Daviet (10/10), meanwhile, gradually picked up his rhythm in the standing category and finished sixth in this sprint pursuit , around thirty seconds off the podium. Mark Arendz (10/10) took victory ahead of Marco Maier (9/10) and Serhii Romaniuk (10/10). There was also a Canadian success in the women’s race, with Natalie Wilkie (8/10) winning ahead of Ukraine’s Oleksandra Kononova (9/10) and China’s Guo Yujie (10/10).
Finally, in the seated category, Ukraine’s Taras Rad (10/10) won the men’s race ahead of Liu Mengtao (9/10) and Liu Zixu (7/10), while Germany’s Anja Wicker (10/10) won the women’s race ahead of Wang Shiyu (9/10) and Zhai Yuxin (8/10).
