Para cross-country skiing: four French competitors at the Canmore Continental Cup
The para cross-country skiing and para biathlon World Cup kicks off next week in Canmore (Canada). Ahead of this first tour of the Paralympic season, a continental para cross-country skiing cup is being organised this Thursday at the Canadian venue.
Although two events were due to be contested, poor snow conditions forced the organisers to reduce the programme to a 5km individual skate. The competition was contested by four Frenchmen: Cléo Banc, Chloé Pinto, Alexis Sanchez and Maxime Gayet (guided by Alexis Bernard).

A French junior team coached by Julie Pepin and Anaïs Bescond. “The idea is to get the youngsters racing in the run-up to the World Cup and, above all, to score FIS points. That won’t be too much the case because of the short course [a 1km loop to be completed five times, editor’s note],”Vincent Duchêne, head coach of Les Bleus, told Nordic Magazine at . So the interest will be in doing the races and seeing how they measure up against their rivals.

Some of the biggest names in para-cross-country skiing will be lining up at the start of this free individual: Danielle Aravich, Natalie Wilkie, Scott Meenagh, Collin Cameron, Taiki Kawayoke, Derek Zaplotinsky, Mark Arendz, Yoshihiro Nitta, Aline dos Santos Rocha, Kendall Gretsch, Stefan Egger-Riedmueller, Oksana Masters and Aaron Pike.
Benjamin Daviet and Karl Tabouret will be arriving in Canada early next week before the start of the para cross-country skiing World Cup, whileAnthony Chalençon and his guide Florian Michelon will be arriving in Alberta later, ahead of the para biathlon events.
