Para cross-country skiing: gold and bronze for Les Bleus in Trondheim
A moment in history. At midday on Wednesday, Frenchman Karl Tabouret became world champion in the para cross-country skiing classic sprint in Trondheim (Norway). At the end of a breathtaking final straight, the Savoyard got the better of Japan’s Taiki Kawayoke, winner of the big globe this winter, to give himself a moment of immense joy.

After an exceptional winter, the 21-year-old Frenchman takes this gold medal, the first of his career. The joy was shared by Bornandin Benjamin Daviet, who was also tanned.

The women’s race put on a great show, with an outstanding duel between Canada’s Natalie Wilkie and Norway’s Vilde Nilsen.

Encouraged by her fans, she managed to get ahead of her opponent in the final metres to take the title. American Sydney Peterson took bronze.
Carina Edlinger and Zebastian Modin crowned winners in the visually impaired category
In the visually impaired category, Austria’s Carina Edlinger (guided by Jakob Kainz) retained her world title in the speciality , beating the Czech Republic’s Simona Bubenickova (guided by David Srutek) and Germany’s Leonie Maria Walter (guided by Christian Krasman).

In the men’s race, Sweden’s Zebastian Modin (guided by Emil Joensson Haag) took the title ahead of American Jake Adicoff (guided by Peter Wolter) and Finland’s Inkki Inola (guided by Arttu Kaario).

Yunji Kim and Cristian Ribera Westemaier take gold in the seated category
In the women’s category, which opened the finals at around 12.20pm, American Kendall Gretsch, the great favourite in the women’s race, was beaten by South Korea’s Yunji Kim, who was crowned world champion. Germany’s Anja Wicker is tanned.

The men’s final was dominated by Brazil’s Cristian Ribera Westemaier. Winner of the para-cross-country skiing world cup a few days ago, he made it a double by taking this world gold medal in the Granåsen cauldron. Ukrainian Pavlo Bal took silver, while bronze went to Kazakh Yerbol Khamitov.
