Para cross-country skiing: a podium finish for Benjamin Daviet
Two days after the end of hostilities in the para biathlon, the para cross-country skiing world cup in Vuokatti (Finland) kicked off on Tuesday with the classic sprints. Benjamin Daviet and Karl Tabouret were the only two French athletes on deck.
Third in the qualifiers, the Bornandin managed to make it all the way to the final, where he took a fine second place. Germany’s Sebastian Marburger won the race, while Canada’s Mark Arendz was third. His young compatriot, who finished twelfth in the qualifying heat, was eliminated in the semi-finals.

In the women’s category, Norwegian favourite Vilde Nilsen won ahead of Natalie Wilkie and Zhao Zhiqing , while in the seated category, Brazil’s Cristian Westmaier Ribera and China’s Wang Shiyu were the winners. In the visually impaired category, China triumphed with the success of Yu Shuang (guided by Wang Guanyu) and Wang Yue (guided by Liu Hang).
