Rollerski: success (almost) on home soil for Mathis Desloges
On Sunday afternoon, it was the senior men who rounded off the copious programme of the 2025 French Rollerski Championships in Autrans (Isère). Over a classic 33.3km mass-start, the show was on, with a vengeful Mathis Desloges in the lead role.
Having struggled on Saturday in the free sprint, where he wasn’t even able to take part in the final stages, he got his revenge in a big way in this long distance race, contested over a 6.6km circuit to be covered five times.

Initially in a breakaway with Victor Lovera, who then broke away to finish 26th, the Villardien won solo after 1 h 18 min 27 sec 4 of racing to claim a fine national gold medal, his third in a row in the distance at the French summer championships.

“On the first lap, after 3 or 4 kilometres, I said to myself: ‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained’, and I tried. We managed to get away with Victor [Lovera] and of course we got along because we train together all year round,” the winner told Nordic Magazine afterwards. I believed in it right to the end and it worked, just a little, but it worked.
Théo Schely and Jules Chappaz take the other medals
Less than 10 seconds behind, Théo Schely and Jules Chappaz took the other two medals, just ahead of Thomas Joly (Team Ramudden).

Richard Jouve was fifth, while Simon Vuillet (Team Slavia Pojistovna Robinson Trentino), Luc Primet (TNE Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite), Victor Cullet Calderini, Sabin Coupat (TNE Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite) and Rémi Bourdin rounded out the top 10.

Eleventh overall, Isaïe Taxil from the Franc-Comtois region was crowned French U23 champion in the speciality ahead of Ivan Essonnier, fifteenth, and Milhan Laissus, seventeenth.

Elsewhere, Hugo Lapalus was thirteenth, Jérémy Royer (Team Eksjöhus) fourteenth, Gaspard Rousset (i3 Ski Team) sixteenth, Clément Parisse nineteenth and Jules Lapierre twentieth.
