Rollerski: “Magni [Smedaas] was a cut above the rest,” says Hanna Fine.
Sitting just a few metres from the start, Hanna Fine earned herself a podium finish almost on home soil on Sunday in the mass-start classic of the French roller-skating championships in Autrans (Isère). The 25-year-old cross-country skier, who finished third behind Magni Smedaas and Léonie Perry, had a race that was as difficult as it was rewarding.

Frankly, it was great fun, I really enjoyed it,” she smiled to Nordic Magazine after the race. I was with Léonie Perry and Magni Smedsas, we took turns, and frankly it was cool. Magni was a cut above the rest, though, and you could tell she had a bit of room to manoeuvre: I think she took 50% of the relays on her own! Léonie and I shared the rest, and in the end it was very close between us. She accelerated and I didn’t have a single step, but it was a great battle.
Objective Ski Classics
Now a member of the Slavia Pojistovna Robinson Trentino team, Hanna Fine is actively preparing for the Ski Classics season, the long-distance circuit: “I’ve changed teams this year, and I’ll be lining up for all the Ski Classics this season. We’ve got a great team and I think it’s going to go well.

The programme promises to be packed, with a training camp at Mont Ventoux (Vaucluse) in the next few days, with Norwegian Magni Smedaas(Team Eksjöhus) and Finn Katie Roivas(Team Eksjöhus) in particular, before a stint on the snow in Livigno (Italy) in November with her coach Rémi Salacroup.

All this before the start of the Ski Classics season in mid-December. ” I’ll be back in Livigno at the beginning of December with my team,” she adds.
For this winter, Hanna Fine isn’t setting her sights too high, but she does have some solid objectives. ” I’m going to keep improving and try to finish the races properly, because I’m finding it a bit difficult to finish! If I can try to be a bit consistent in the top fifteen, that would be great.
