Rollerski: two national titles in one race for Léonie Perry
Léonie Perry from the Vosges may not have been the first to cross the finish line of the women’s 20km mass-start classic at the French Rollerski Championships in Autrans (Isère) , but it was she who took the national gold medal. The winner of the overall race was none other than Magni Smedaas from Norway, a push specialist who competes for Team Eksjöhus.
“I’m so happy! I’m so happy to be racing alongside great long-distance champions like Magni [Smedaas],” she told Nordic Magazine at the finish. She really pulled us along and we learn a lot on these races, so it’s great to have her here.

The French team’s cross-country skier, who won the senior and U23 titles on Sunday, broke away very early on in the company of the Scandinavian andHanna Fine (Team Slavia Pojistovna Robinson Trentino).
We were all together and all of a sudden Magni [Smedaas] thought she was getting a bit bored and went on the attack,” laughs Léonie Perry. We stuck together with Hanna and two or three girls at the back, then it all came to a head with the repeated attacks and the three of us left.
A fine winter ahead for Léonie Perry
Although she was unable to keep up with Magni Smedaas‘ final acceleration, Léonie Perry took second place to win the gold medal.
“It’s encouraging for the future! It makes me all the more determined to carry on doing what I’m doing until this winter, in the hope of winning some great selections,” she explains. That’s where I want to continue with my sport, regalade! It often leads to good results, and that’s for sure.

As far as this winter is concerned, the Frenchwoman reveals that her priority is the U23 World Championships in Lillehammer (Norway)… while not stopping herself from doing anything else. ” I’m not going to put any pressure on myself, even though I want to achieve great things,” she admits.
