Rollerski : “It was my first real PMA [maximum aerobic power],” says Liv Coupat
In Autrans (Isère) on Saturday, Liv Coupat retained her title as French summer cross-country skiing sprint champion. Second in the qualifying round, the Forézienne had a perfect day, winning her quarter-final, her semi-final and then the final.
“I’m happy because I already won last year, so to do it again is something special,” said the smiling 22-year-old cross-country skier to Nordic Magazine at the finish.
But Liv Coupat wasn’t sure how she would feel before the weekend. “I’ve just come back from Covid, which was my first real PMA, so I wasn’t expecting to be at this level at all. So it’s quite encouraging, it’s cool. I tried to hide with the wind at the start and put everything into the final straight.
It was a victory that was all the more significant given the family dimension of the weekend. “ My little sister [Annette Coupat in the U20, editor’s note] also won, and my brother is in the final [Sabin Coupat took 3rd place, editor’s note]. It’s a real pleasure!
