Ski jumping: logic was respected at the French championships in Courchevel
This Saturday morning, the individual competitions of the French ski jumping championships took place in Courchevel (Savoie). On the HS96 du Praz, logic was more than respected, with Valentin Foubert (95 and 90.5 metres) winning the men’s title. The Courchevel native, who did not take part in this competition held at the same venue last March, gave no-one else the chance to win the gold medal.
With a clear lead after the first jump, he confirmed it in the final round to win ahead of Enzo Milesi (93 and 94.5 metres), who was relegated to almost 20 points, and Jules Chervet (93 and 94 metres), the title holder. Marco Heinis (90 and 90.5 metres), Ari Repellin (87.5 and 94.5 metres), Mattéo Baud (94 and 89.5 metres), Julien Gay (86.5 and 89.5 metres), Gaël Blondeau (88 and 95 metres) and Alessandro Batby (89.5 and 86 metres) followed.
In the U20s, Faustin Moureaux (91 and 86 metres), tenth overall, won the national title, ahead of the combined Lubin Martin (85 and 88 metres) and Anoki Pouradier (85 and 86 metres), still in the U17s. It should be noted that Maxime Laheurte, a retired combined athlete from the Vosges who was on the starting list, did not take part in this French championship.
Then, in the women’s event, Chaunière’s Joséphine Pagnier (93.5 and 92 metres) unsurprisingly retained her title. She too confirmed her superiority on the second jump after making a big gap on the first. Joining her on the podium were Emma Chervet (93.5 and 89.5 metres) and Lilou Zepchi (87.5 and 88 metres).
The Nordic combined team of Léna Brocard (87 and 88 metres) and Romane Baud (88.5 and 85.5 metres) followed, then Marie Thomas-Couturaud (84 and 88 metres), Mathilde Bacconnier (82.5 and 82 metres), Caroline Espiau ( 80.5 and 82.5 metres) and Marion Droz-Vincent (81 and 82.5 metres), tied for eighth place, and Anaëlle Paris (75.5 and 73.5 metres), the last member of the top 10.
