Ski jumping: no Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games for Eva Pinkelnig
On Thursday evening, the women’s competition at the Summer Ski Jumping Grand Prix, held on the small hill at Predazzo in Italy’s Val di Fiemme region, turned into a nightmare for Austria’s Eva Pinkelnig.
Tenth after one run, she had got her competition off to a good start. But that was before her second jump and a fall on landing her take-off. For several long minutes, she remained on the ground, in the Italian grass, before being evacuated on a stretcher. “ An injury to the left knee is suspected”, said Ski Austria later that evening.

Eva Pinkelnig was quickly admitted to the Hochrum private clinic in Rum (Austria), nearInnsbruck (Austria), where she was given a final diagnosis: as her federation announced in a statement on Friday, she is suffering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and the inner and outer meniscus of her left knee.
A cartilage injury was also detected. Her operation is scheduled for today, but her Olympic season is already over.
