Ski jumping: a first golden eagle for Daniel Tschofenig
Late on Monday afternoon, 14,300 spectators gathered at the foot of the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen (Austria). It had to be said that this 2025 competition of kings was shaping up to be a historic one for Austrian ski jumping, winner of the first three rounds of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament and present on the top three steps of the overall podium.

Better still, Stefan Kraft, Jan Hoerl and Daniel Tschofenig were separated by just 1.3 points before this competition, which historically took place on Epiphany Day, a public holiday in Austria. As a result, this contest of kings was of a rare intensity. After one round, Stefan Kraft, with 136 metres, extended his lead in the overall standings, with Jan Hoerl (140.5 metres) 2.5 points behind and Daniel Tschofenig (136 metres) 6.5 points behind.

But in the final, Daniel Tschofenig, at 140.5 metres, completely overturned the kings’ table to win the golden eagle. Fifth at the halfway stage, he made a fantastic comeback to win by 2.1 points from Jan Hoerl and 5.4 from Stefan Kraft, the last to start after a long wait because of the wind.

Watched by his partner Alexandria Loutitt, he became the first Austrian to triumph on the Vierschanzentournee for 10 years.
A thirty-fourth place finish for Valentin Foubert
In the French clan, Valentin Foubert (126 metres) lost on KO system to local Manuel Fettner (128.5 metres) by 3.3 points and was not drafted in.

He finished his 2024/2025 Four Hills Tournament in thirty-fourth place.
