14:24. Late on Sunday afternoon, the first part of the Japan Summer Ski Jumping Championships 2025 was taking place in Sapporo (Japan). On the HS137 large hill, 53-year-old Noriaki Kasai (124 and 129 metres) came within a whisker of achieving a huge feat, finishing fourth.

Up front, in the absence of Ryoyu Kobayashi, it was Ren Nikaido (137.5 and 134 metres) who took the gold medal ahead of Sakutaro Kobayashi (138.5 and 132.5 metres) and Tomofumi Naito (twice 133 metres).
In the women’s category, favourite Nozomi Maruyama (127.5 and 129.5 metres) was crowned champion , while Ringo Miyajima (127 and 127.5 metres) and Kurumi Ichinohe (120.2 and 119 metres) won medals, just ahead of Sara Takanashi (121 and 120 metres).
