Ski jumping: a first for Germany
The 2024/2025 Ski Jumping World Cup kicked off on Friday afternoon in Lillehammer (Norway), on the impressive Lysgårdsbakken. In a mixed competition, Germany’s Selina Freitag, Andreas Wellinger, Katharina Schmid and Pius Paschke claimed the first victory of the winter. Already in the lead after the first run, the Germans managed to widen the gap on their second run to secure a fine victory.

On the podium were Norway(Anna Odine Stroem, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, Eirin Maria Kvandal, Marius Lindvik) on 22.3 points, followed by Austria(Lisa Eder, Daniel Tschofenig, Eva Pinkelnig, Jan Hoerl) on 31.5. Slovenia finished just off the podium, ahead of Japan.
France in the final round
Struggling before the final rotation of the first heat, the French team(Emma Chervet, Enzo Milesi, Joséphine Pagnier, Valentin Foubert) took advantage of the last-minute withdrawal of American Tate Frantz and the failure of Italian Alex Insam to reach the final heat.

In the end, Les Bleus finished this first event of the winterin eighth place – just behind Poland in seventh and Finland in sixth.
