The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has provisionally suspended three Norwegian team officials and two athletes who are under investigation for their alleged involvement in the illegal handling of equipment during the men’s ski jumping competition on the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships inTrondheim (Norway) last Saturday.

In addition, at the request of external investigators from the FIS Independent Ethics and Compliance Office, the FIS has seized all the jump suits worn by the Norwegian teams at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim – in ski jumping and Nordic combined, for both the men’s and women’s events. These suits will be re-inspected as part of the ongoing investigation.
The suit control policy will be adjusted immediately for the rest of the ski jumping and Nordic combined World Cup season. These adjustments will be discussed and formalised at the team captains’ meeting this evening in Oslo/Holmenkollen (Norway).

The Norwegian federation will be holding a press conference in the next few minutes. The FIS will hold its own press conference on the subject on Thursday at 2.30pm in Oslo (Norway).
Earlier in the day, the Polish Ski Federation demanded “the temporary suspension of the Norwegian coaching team and the disqualified athletes until the matter has been fully investigated by the FIS Ethics Commission”.
