Norwegian ski jumping has been through some turbulent times in recent months. After the wetsuit scandal at the world championships in Trondheim (Norway), the Scandinavians have been working hard to get back on track ahead of the new preparations.

But on Tuesday, one of the kingdom’s athletes announced that he would no longer be climbing to the top of a springboard in the World Cup. At the age of 35, Robert Johansson revealed in the last few hours that he was calling time on his career: ” I can’t wait to see what life has in store for me. Even if it’s not the end I thought I deserved,” he told TV2 after missing out on the World Championships on home soil in March.
A bronze medallist in the individual and team events before winning the title with his team-mates at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (South Korea), the jumper will also have won three world medals, the last of which was in the individual event at the 2021 edition inOberstdorf (Germany). In the World Cup, Robert Johansson will also have won fourteen times.
