Piotr Zyla was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta on Friday for his sporting achievements and services to promoting physical culture in Poland. The 38-year-old jumper received the decoration from President Andrzej Duda.
Piotr Zyla is a three-time world champion in ski jumping: team champion in 2017, and individual champion in 2021 and 2023. The native of Cieszyn (Poland) also has four bronze medals: three team medals and one individual medal. The Pole has reached the World Cup podium twenty-three times, including twice on the highest step.
In the past, this distinction has been awarded to other jumpers such as Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki, Maciej Kot, Stefan Hula, Piotr Fijas and Wojciech Fortuna. Legend Adam Malysz was awarded the Officer’s Cross and the Commander’s Cross.
