Ski jumping : Valentin Foubert continues to climb the rankings
The first ski jumping competition of the Ruka World Cup (Finland) took place early on Friday evening in milder conditions than in the qualifying round. Already impressive in the qualifying round, Valentin Foubert continued his fine form during the competition.
With two excellent jumps at 130.5 and 131 metres, the jumper from Courchevel (Savoie) quite simply achieved his best career result in the world’s elite. Twenty-first last weekend in Lillehammer (Norway), this time the Frenchman made it into the top 20 by finishing a superb twentieth in the final.
At the top of the rankings, there was a great battle for the third victory of the winter. And, as in the first competition in Lillehammer (Norway), it was Pius Paschke (143.5 and 143 metres) who had the last word. In full confidence at the start of the season, the German gleaned his second success of the 2024/2025 season, beating two Austrians to the punch.
Behind him, Jan Hoerl (138 and 141.5 metres) and Stefan Kraft (135 and 147 metres) were no match for the experienced jumper from the other side of the Rhine. Even so, the winner of last year’s crystal globe climbed onto his first podium of the winter.
