This Friday morning saw the qualifying round of the first World Cup ski jumping competition in Sapporo (Japan). On the Japanese HS137 ski jump, it was Austria’s Stefan Kraft (134.5 metres) who came out on top. He beat his compatriots Daniel Tschofenig (132 metres), the overall leader, and Jan Hoerl (132 metres).

Courchevel’s Valentin Foubert came twenty-eighth with a jump of 120.5 metres. Veteran Noriaki Kasai (97 metres), making his return to the World Cup this week at the age of 52, came in fifty-second, failing to qualify.
