Ski jumping: a Slovenian becomes coach of the Swiss men’s national team
A few weeks ago, Swiss-Ski announced the surprise departure of Rune Velta, head coach of its men’s national ski jumping team. Once the news had been digested, the Swiss management set about finding his successor, and on Friday the news was made official that Slovenian Bine Norcic had been recruited from 1 June.
The new Swiss coach has a substantial CV: for the last three years, he has worked as assistant coach and coordinator with the Norwegian team, where he coached the athletes in the Continental Cup. Prior to that, he coached in the USA, Canada, Turkey and Slovenia. Until 2004, Bine Norcic was also an athlete in the Slovenian national team, placing fourteenth in the World Cup at his best.

“We are delighted that our coaching team is once again complete, and that in Bine Norcic we have found the candidate we wanted for the position of head coach. He brings a wealth of experience and we are convinced that he will fit in perfectly with our team,” said Joel Bieri, head of Swiss ski jumping and Nordic combined, in a press release.
Germany’s Carlo Broemel has been appointed coach of Training Group 2 , taking on primary responsibility for the Continental Cup, while Marvin Scherrer has been appointed head coach of the junior team. Finally, Italian Evelyn Insam will now be working as a coach at the Engelberg secondary sports school.
