There was a huge upset on Saturday at the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway). The Norwegians were disqualified in the large hill competition. Marius Lindvik thought he had won the silver medal. Johann André Forfang finished fourth.
The Nordic country was accused of having added an element to its suits that did not comply with International Ski Federation regulations. This was confirmed by Sandro Pertile, the person in charge of the discipline at the FIS. He said that a check was carried out after the final run. The suits were opened.
“We are speechless. We don’t really know what it is, but we’ve heard that there was a problem inside the seam of the suit”, explained Maren Lundby, now a TV 2 consultant.
Earlier, Austria had issued a protest against Norway, which was initially rejected. Austrian public broadcaster ORF had shared a video in which Norway’s coach, Magnus Brevig, is secretly filmed at the hotel on Friday evening. The outfits are being prepared on the eve of the competition.
“You can clearly see in the videos that the suits are being manipulated,” Austrian sports director Florian Liegl told ARF.
Polish journalist Jakub Balcerski initially shared the video on X.
