On Thursday evening, the women’s small jump qualification at the world ski jumping championships in Trondheim (Norway) was marked by the misfortune of Germany’s Luisa Goerlich. Having returned to competition at the start of the month after a year’s absence due to a right knee injury, she suffered another injury to the joint on landing her jump. Although she didn’t fall, she wasn’t able to take her shoes off herself.
“I examined Luisa [Goerlich] after her qualifying jump, explained Florian Porzig, the German national team doctor, in a press release. I think she’s suffering from a serious injury to her right knee, but only an MRI scan will enable us to make a precise diagnosis.”
So the competition is already over for the German, reigning world team champion.
