On 5 April, all ski jumping fans will be scanning the skies over Zakopane in Poland. On that day, an original and unusual competition will be organised.
Adam Malysz has invited former glories of the discipline: Martin Schmitt, Thomas Morgenstern, Gregor Schlierenzauer and Andreas Goldberger. They will captain a team of five of the biggest names in the current World Cup. France’s Valentin Foubert will be taking part, as will Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi, Slovenia’s Domen Prevc, Switzerland’s Gregor Deschwanden and Germany’s Andreas Wellinger.

Each team will make eight jumps, with a total distance as close as possible to 1,000 metres. It’s up to them to decide which strategy to adopt. For example, it will decide which bar its members will jump from.
“Fans will see a competition with a clear and transparent format,” says Adam Malysz, forty-seven, considered to be one of the best ski jumpers of all time. He has won thirty-nine events on the FIS’s flagship circuit, making him the third biggest winner behind Matti Nykaenen and Gregor Schlierenzauer. ” No one will be focusing on the angle of the skis, the telemark or the wind,” says Martin Schmitt, holder of three Olympic medals and two crystal globes.
The event will be broadcast on Eurosport’s YouTube channel.
