Telemark: the World Championships in France this week
The resort of Les Contamines-Montjoie (Haute-Savoie) is hosting the Telemark World Championships from 19 to 23 March 2025. For almost a week, 70 athletes from 11 nations will compete on the slopes of Haute-Savoie. The competitors will compete on a technical course combining giant slalom, ski jump, loom (360° banked turn) and cross-country skiing.
The four events on offer promise a great show:
- parallel sprint and parallel team sprint, the most spectacular, with duels on parallel tracks
- classic, the most demanding event, combining technical skill, endurance and strategy
- sprint, the fastest format, where precision and speed are decisive

Telemark skiing originated in Norway in 1868, and today combines tradition and modernity. To support the French team – who will be keen to shine in front of their home crowd – watch the opening ceremony on Tuesday 18 March and the start of the competitions on Wednesday 19 March in Les Contamines-Montjoie (Haute-Savoie).
