Virtus World Nordic Skiing Championships: three medals for Les Bleus at the Bessans Worlds
For the French Para Nordic ski team, this week’sWorld Championships in Bessans (Savoie) are the event of a lifetime. Two years after the last edition of the World Championships, the event kicked off this Monday morning on the Carreley slopes with an individual classic.

And it was a great first day for the French team, which trains here all year round. In category ii2 (Down’s Syndrome), France’s Clément Colomby became world champion ahead of Italy’s Tobia Maria Kostner and Mattia Oltolina.

In the ii3 category (autism), Clément Richard, the only competitor, was also crowned champion.

Titouan Dubois took bronze in the ii1 category (intellectual disabilities). Victory went to Russia’s Ivan Volegov ahead of his compatriot Aleksandr Sorokin. Both skied under neutral banners. Joseph Garin finished fourth and Yann Guebey fifth.

No medals, however, for the women’s ii1s Manon Petitnicolas, fourth, and Léa Thiroux, fifth. Russia’s Irina Guber won ahead of her team-mate Alina Kashevarova and Sweden’s Kristin Bjoerfeldt.
