XC Skiing: three days to travel from Oslo to Bergen
Many athletes thrive on challenges, and Mathias Aas Rolid is one of them. The Norwegian cross-country skier has just completed a 500-kilometer journey on roller skis. Starting from Oslo, he spent three days on Norwegian roads to reach Bergen.
“After so many kilometers of training, the body can falter, it’s a double-edged sword. But I am in great shape, and my work base is good,” declared in the columns of Langrennn the one who took third place in the Alliansloppet in August.
Although the summer period is therefore positive, the skier does not intend to stop there. This Thursday, he will actually be at the starting line of the Nydalsløpet, a five-kilometer running race that takes paths and roads north of Oslo. An event favored by some cross-country skiers, including Andreas Nygaard and Kasper Stadaas, teammates of Mathias Aas Rolid in the Team Ragde Charge.
But these familiar faces are also his main rivals: “I am the favorite, even though Andreas has five more races under his belt this year and Kasper weighs 20 kg less, I should win this battle.” Confident and in top shape, Mathias Aas Rolid will have to confirm his words at the starting line.
