XC Skiing: No serious injuries
Next season is likely to be a turning point in the career of Moa Lundgren. A few weeks ago, the Swedish cross-country skier turned down a spot in the Bahaus group, Sweden’s B team, to prepare on her own for the winter events. However, summer training has been slightly delayed in recent days due to a roller-skiing accident.
During a session on the rollerski track in Trondheim (Norway), the 26-year-old Swede fell on a descent. An incident at over fifty km/h that could have been more serious. “I found myself on a slippery slope. I never thought I would fall at that speed. I didn’t break anything, I didn’t get hurt, not even a scratch,” the cross-country skier told Expressen.
At the time, Moa Lundgren didn’t have any aftereffects, but the following days were more difficult due to a concussion: “I had a headache, I couldn’t stand noise or light. I couldn’t drive, watch TV, or use my phone. I slept a lot to recover.”
After a forced rest, the skier was able to resume adapted preparation: “I was able to go running, I also returned to the gym. I can do some exercises, the key is to keep my head still.” If her health continues to improve, she does not yet know when she will be fully back to her best: “I’m going to take my time to avoid rushing things. I’m progressing without stress, but if things continue to improve, I’ll start roller skiing again in a few days.”
