Cross-Country Skiing: Edvin Anger Leaves Hedemora, Says the Press
In Sweden, when a cross-country skier moves, it makes headlines. Edvin Anger is no exception. In February, a local newspaper wrote that he would be leaving his hometown of Hedemora for Östersund with his girlfriend, Emma Axelsson. The information was picked up by the national daily VG. “I think it will be good for my career,” the interested party explained in the Viaplay Winter Podcast.
Hedemora is located in the county of Dalarna, just south of Falun. 7,279 people live there. Edvin Anger was one of its greatest ambassadors. Like Zlatan Ibrahimovic is associated with Rosengård, a district of the city of Malmö or Charlotte Kalla with Tärendö, in northern Sweden.
“I think it’s going to be nice to start a new life,” the young man, who on August 19th in the sports supplement of Aftonbladet, added: “I wanted to try something new.” He also mentioned that he is looking for a new environment to train in. The man has ambitions. As we reported last week, citing an interview with Langd.se, he wants to focus on his preferred format: “I want to be stronger in my head and on my skis during the sprints next year. That is my main goal.”
Another reason the couple decided to move: Emma Axelsson will be studying at the university.
At the beginning of September, Edvin Anger — who has just published his first blog on YouTube — plans to spend a few days at his parents’ house. There is a good chance he will get behind the wheel of a tractor on the family farm. A final break before the next season.
This weekend, the skier showed that he was in shape. He notably won the Alliansloppet, beating Andrew Musgrave in the sprint.
